If you’re at the beach but still not feeling fully relaxed, maybe what you need is a good laugh.
Check out our webinar “People Loving Holidays… Or Not!”, where we dive into a fun yet meaningful conversation organized by my Happyforce friends, with Sara Jiménez, Juan Carlos Gutiérrez, and Israel Carrasco. Together, we uncover simple but powerful keys to truly switch off and rest.
And here they are!
1. Define your red lines.
Planes? Road trips? Mass tourism? The stress of packing? We all have our “no-go zones.” Figure them out before your holiday begins.
2. Time off… from what, exactly?
You’re not taking a break from everything. Ask yourself: What do I really need to disconnect from? Work? Routine? The city? Family? Brutal honesty required!
3. Plan with realism, not magical thinking.
You won’t finish everything before leaving. Prioritize, decide what you won’t do. And if something is left undone… no one dies. The world keeps spinning.
4. Budget your time like you budget your money.
Structure your pre-holiday days and your actual downtime. Need to check in on work? Decide when, how long, and stick to it. No improvising.
5. Digital detox ≠ leaving your phone at home.
It means redefining your screen relationship. Turn off notifications, set usage profiles, create family boundaries. Or… keep your phone out of the bedroom.
6. Learning challenge or boredom challenge.
Find a screen-free activity: open-water swimming, tree-gazing, or consciously doing nothing. Silence fuels creativity.
7. Don’t compare.
Someone will always be in Bali while you’re in your backyard. Your real success? Actually resting, not racking up check-ins.
8. Break the routine with a ritual.
Do something bold at the start: a retreat, a scenery change, anything that snaps you out of autopilot.
9. Make realistic itineraries.
This isn’t a sprint, and TikTok doesn’t set your pace. Be inspired, but choose what you really want to experience. The rest can wait.
10. Presence, silence, and family.
Being present is the ultimate detox. Don’t overfill your days. Leave space for boredom, quiet… and laughter.
